Congratulations Bro. White on being named the SU Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

A hearty congrats goes out to Bro. Patrick “Vagabond” White (626) who was named Syracuse University’s Scholar-Athlete of the week for the week of January 29. It is obvious that White deserved this award if you were in attendance this past weekend when White competed against Seton Hall and twisted and turned his way into the hearts of the judges and crowd. He ended up placing second in the competition thanks to a powerhouse performance. Congrats Pat, you truly are an inspiration to us all, and not a terrible swing dancer at that. On the look out for new members, Acacia takes over the Schine Student Center

Senior Dean Cutshall talks to an interested student about what sets ACACIA apart.

On January 27th, the brothers of Acacia signed up for space in the Atrium at the Schine Student Center, in order to promote their own brotherhood as well as the entire Greek System of SU. The objective was simple: between the hours of 11AM and 4PM, get students interested in pledging a fraternity on campus, answer any questions they have regarding Greek life or the rushing prOcess and in the process let them know what ACACIA is all about. Upon talking with some interested students, we met some guys who look like they could make some good Acacians. If this afternoon was a foreshadowing of things to come, ACACIA is going to have a very successful Spring Rush.

Special thanks to Bro. Ishak for the creation of the eyecatching
slideshow and for the volunteering of his kickass television
which completely tricked out our setup in the student center.
The afternoon was definitely proof that people migrate to HD
displays like mosquitos towards bug zappers.

1st Chapter Meeting of the Semester

On Sunday January 21, the first chapter meeting of the new semester was held at a new location. Now with a brotherhood of 21 strong, holding them in 909 Comstock would be a fire hazard, and our new risk manager Bro. Shah just wouldn’t let that happen. Brothers Akhouri, Santoro and Mock, unable to contain their excitement, even showed up a bit early to have a pre-meeting snack:

The meeting was a success and let out after a productive hour and five minutes, but not before important issues were covered such as the introduction of a new spending expenditure form that will allow brothers to get reimbursed for purchases made for the benefit of the fraternity. Another important item on the agenda was the presentations by each new officer regarding their respective positions. For instance, Treasurer -to-be Bro. Mathai let the brothers know about his plan to move the fraternity’s financial bookkeeping system away from pen and paper and towards a computer software based method for maximum accuracy and general ease of use.

Fiesta en Sabado (Happy Birthday Marcus)

Bro. Lee (right) enjoying his special bday extravaganza.

On Saturday, January 20th the brothers celebrated Bro. Marcus Lee’s Birthday by having a good old fashioned shindig at 909 Comstock. Plenty of people were in attendance and everyone had a damn good time. The night peaked when Bro. Lee took a rather cold birthday victory lap around the house. Brotherhood was definitely in the air.
